The Enchanted Frog

We arrived safely in Kansas City yesterday and I am happy to report that we did not have to leave either child on the side of the road on the way here. In fact, we had a lovely car trip. Everyone was very well behaved, except for Luisa who refused to play a game with me. Sometimes, I like to make up memories from the past and I desperately want her to play along but she won't. Yesterday, I saw a billboard advertising The Enchanted Frog, an antiques store. So, I said, "Oh Luisa! Remember that time we went to The Enchanted Frog and bought that thing? Wow...what a day that was..." She responded, "We have never been to The Enchanted Frog." I persisted, "Remember? How can you not remember the time we bought that thing. You know...the thing." She shakes her head, not because she doesn't remember but because she does not like to pretend. It's like all those times I used to test her with questions like, "What if you woke up and I was a big pat of butter? What would you do?" So, we did not reflect on our good times at The Enchanted Frog or at Liberty Hall Antiques, another favorite imaginary haunt. Despite this, I allowed her to stay in the car with us and let her drive every mile of the 7 hour trip because I'm sweet that way. Tonight, my sister took the kids out to dinner and Luisa and I went out to dinner by ourselves. I was so excited by this that when the waitress asked me if I wanted a 20 ounce beer or a Giant Mug of Beer, I shouted "I'll take the mug!" The mug said, "FUN!". The mug said, "My kids are with their aunt!" The Giant Mug of Beer was a lot of beer...25 ounces to be exact. I was the only person drinking the GMofB in the whole joint. It's possible that I drank all of the beer in the joint and there was none left for the other patrons. We came home and played some Guitar Hero, chit chatted with my sister and then headed to bed for blogging. There were some technical difficulties and I almost threw in the NaBloPoMo towel. But, Luisa saved the day. It reminds me of this time we were at The Enchanted Frog and we bought this thing...
