Empty Nest

I intended to write a beautiful recap of Pride yesterday but I didn't have time because I was home with Zeca who kept following me around demanding that we "do something fun!" I didn't get it...I mean we sorted laundry. What's more fun than that? Anyway, I don't have much time so I'll simply say that Pride was fabulous and hope that this picture says the rest. IMG_0895

It is 10 p.m. as I am writing this. Both children are still awake and I am beginning to think that they may never go to sleep. They'll be swinging from the ceiling fans tomorrow morning which generally does not bode well when facing hours and hours of travel. The suit cases are strewn about the house, mostly packed. I can't help but feel like we are forgetting things. I know that it will be fine...I've heard that Portugal has these things called stores where you can buy things. The carry-on bags will be packed tomorrow morning before we all head to the airport. It will all get done. It always does. Tonight, we will all be here in this house. Tomorrow, the house will be empty. Tomorrow, I'll say goodbye to my family for a month and it all feels so surreal.

I am heading to Kansas City tomorrow after Luisa and the kids head to Portugal. I'll be back soon...
