Kites

This past weekend, we discovered a new outdoor event here in the Twin Cities, the Lake Harriet Winter Kite Festival. I'd never heard of this and, I will admit, the thought of standing on a frozen lake flying kites seemed a bit crazy to me. But, the sun was shining and we couldn't imagine sitting inside all day so we headed out to the lake. We had a fabulous time. Miguel and his friends participated in the medallion hunt and Miguel got lucky. He found a medallion on the second clue and was crazy with joy. The kites were beautiful against the winter sky and the kids rolled around in the snow like little polar bear cubs. They had hot chocolate and each cup had a BIG marshmallow in it. Really, it doesn't get any better than that. Well, it did for me...
