Mama's Got Skills

I woke up very early today. Luisa is out of town and the children were asleep, so, there was absolute quiet in the house. These moments are so rare and, when they come, I am often overwhelmed with possibility and waste most of the time trying to figure out what I am going to do with it. This morning, however, I picked up my guitar and played. I have not played in a very long time and my fingers burned after just 15 minutes, so, I took a break and walked down the hall to open the door to the kids' room. I said good morning to them and then went back to my room to play some more. Within a few minutes, I heard Miguel calling to me in a sleepy voice, the voice of someone stretching. I asked him what he needed and he said, "Please keep playing. Your music is helping me open my eyes". I laughed and kept playing. A few minutes later, he said, "Mama, you play music as good as a CD. You have skills mama. Real skills with the guitar".  I had kinda forgotten that.
